Biography:

Ahmed Halim Ayoub, DDS, MSc, is a Visiting Lecture at BPP University Faculty of Dentistry, London, England. His Diploma and Master’s degrees are from Seville University, Spain. He developed expertise in Bone Augmentation and Sinus Elevation. He has a special interest in bone healing, role of growth factors and bone morphogenetic protein in bone growth. He is also highly interested in Dental Implants Education and developed his pioneer modules using live training throughout directing dental implants Post-graduate training in Egyptian Society of Oral Implantology, London Oral Restorative Academy, and London Dental Education Service. He is a distinguished speaker: in many international conferences and teaches in UK, Europe and the Middle East.

Abstract:

Tissue engineering, platelet concentrates and its role in dental implant treatment Tissue engineering plays a great role in enhancing and accelerating tissue healing around implants or in a defect inside oral cavity. This started by showing the role of platelets concentrates through PRP in initiating faster healing mechanism then followed by the introduction of PRGF then the innovation done by chokroun 2001 who introduced the Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) which is the second generation platelet concentrate widely used to accelerate soft and hard tissue healing. Several trials were done to mix the PRF with bone graft particles through cutting the PRF into small pieces and mixing it with bone particles. This lecture will introduce the 3rd generation of the platelet concentrate which is the IPRF which is a PRF with integrated bone graft materials inside it which offers good bone stabilization inside the defect. Also allow neovascularization in between bone grafts particles and direct effect of cytokines on cells in between grafting material.

Biography:

Fred J Fendler has received his Doctoral degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 1974. He has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Dental Practice at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco for the past 15 years. Prior to entering academia, he has maintained a general dental practice in San Francisco for 20 years. He has published multiple papers in peer reviewed journals and he is serving as an Editorial Review Member for MedEdPORTAL and the Journal of Dental Education.

Abstract:

Immune response considerations: Understanding differences and maintaining awareness Periodontal disease may commonly be seen in patients with diabetes and those who are infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Prognosis and potential treatment modifications are important to consider. While both patient groups may exhibit periodontal disease, contributing factors and susceptibility are very different. Both patient cohorts are similar in that they suffer from a distressed immune system which plays a part in their periodontal disease risk; however, the mechanism for this immunocompromised response is unique and different in each. Diabetes is thought to cause, multiple systemic disturbances including the dysregulation of the innate immune system and associated increase in the inflammatory response, increased tissue destruction and delayed wound healing. HIV+ patients suffer from a much more specific immune disturbance of the adaptive immune system which can diminish their capacity for response to infection. Given the large number of patients with diabetes and HIV in this country, understanding these differences is critical to guiding periodontal care that is appropriate and has the best prognosis possible.

Biography:

Imad Salloum graduated from Dental School Damascus University in 1981, where he completed his Residency Program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 1986, he also attended Extern Fellowship Training at Emory University and Emory Clinic in 1989, 1992 and 1998. He is also a Diplomate of ICOI. He is a Board Editorial Member of Syrian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and an Elected Board Member of Syrian Association of Implant Dentistry. He is a Speaker for the British Academy of Implant and Restorative Dentistry, and also a Speaker and Regional Courses Supervisor for Dentsply Friadent, and International Expert on Dental XP. He has been lecturing in several regional and international conferences, and published several clinical studies. He is a Chief Surgeon and Director of Salloum Dental Clinic and Training Center.

Abstract:

Piezo hydro dynamic internal sinus lift: Intralift technique Sinus lifting via crestal approach by Summer’s technique (internal sinus lift) is a common and a non-invasive procedure in implantology practice compared to sinus lift via external approach. However, patient discomfort, shocking feeling, membrane tearing, difficulty in graft packing and the unsafe use of hammer and osteotomes are disadvantages and drawbacks of this technique. Piezo surgery opened a new era in implantology practice as a safe and easy to use technology by means of respecting and protecting the soft tissues. Hydrodynamic piezo intralift technique is a minimally invasive and reliable technique for internal sinus lifting with highest success rate, especially in less experienced hands, it achieves more safety, easy graft packing less membrane tearing complications, less trauma, less edema, less post-operative pain and more patient acceptance. The presentation will show the principle and surgical steps of the piezo hydrodynamic sinus lifting technique as well as a clinical study done on 74 patients with end results.
